A couple “cents”..
// RE-DEFINING FITNESS, MINDSET AND LIFESTYLE - from “IG reality” to more sustainable and actually healthier Body, Mind and Life //
BODY //
// Functionality over aesthetics //
Whatever some fitness-“influencers” say, we believe in holistic everyday functionality, now and in the future.
You know, being capable to lead the life to the fullest and not being limited by physical or mental restrictions.
And also never being a liability to our loved ones - but instead of being an asset to them until the end of our days.
That said, big muscles and oiled abs are not our focus here, at all - but functional everyday fitness is.
// Consistency over Discipline //
Discipline is overrated.
Meaning, consistency is THE THING that actually moves the needle, discipline is kinda just a personality trait which obviously helps to stay consistent, especially on days we don’t “feel like it”.
Of course consistency alone doesn’t guarantee any results if you are not doing the right stuff - consistently and sustainably.
And the “right stuff” depends on your goals - what you actually want to achieve - who you want to become. If you want to get leaner, then the right stuff is calorie deficit. If same time you want to build some strength and muscle, you need to do some form of strength training and make sure you get enough protein as well, pretty simple on the surface level, right?
When diving a little bit deeper come for example workout modalities, food and recovery.
And diving a little bit more deep comes workout routines, volume, intensity, frequency, macros (no need to count macros though, but good to at least be aware of what carbs, protein and fats do), sleep, (active) rest days.
And when diving even deeper my head starts to hurt, so I’ll leave that stuff to people who actually enjoy all the endless contradictory nitty-gritty science jargon.
// YOU DON’T HAVE TO LOVE IT - BUT YOU CAN’T HATE IT //
In a nutshell to get the ball rolling with the least amount of headache..
just start moving your body a bit more than yesterday
figure out strong enough reasons that beat your excuses on the rainy days when you don’t feel like it
be honest, how much time you can REALLY invest in workouts at first and start with that - even if its just 5min a day
try out different workout modalities and foods, choose what you enjoy the most or hate the least
listen to your body - not mind
don’t eat like a dumb*ss
rest enough and..
have fun!
MIND //
// BELIEF FIRST - ACTION SECOND //
After a couple years and hundreds of dms, Zoom-calls and other interactions with you guys one thing has popped up that limits most guys the most to achieve what they want to achieve.
It hasn’t been always said with words but in tone and how they circle around it, trying not to say it but coming up with all other reasons around it.
It’s the lack of belief they have on themselves.
They keep repeating what has happened in the past and how that now makes taking action impossible or not worth it anymore.
They have this story on repeat that because they have tried to make the change in the past but failed - they probably would be going to fail this time too and they just don’t think that another try isn’t worth anymore the struggle and pain of failing again.
And I 100% get that, I really do. I was in the same downhill spiral for 20 years with my body-stuff. Dozen times of trying but eventually failing every fckng time.
Until one time I didn’t.
Einstein said it the best..
'“If you keep doing the same stuff but expecting different results - you are a dumb*ss” or something like that.
And exactly that I was doing again and again for 20 years - doing the same stuff but expecting different results until..
2023 I decided to try one more time but with a whole different mindset and with my self-made methods, and here I am helping you to try one more time as well.
// To COMMIT or not to commit //
Another thing that many struggle with and I used to struggle with as well - COMMITTING to one’s goals.
One of the main issues with me and many I have talked with is not even the commitment part - but having a clear vision what we actually wanted deep down.
Internet does really good job “offering” ideal “somewhat” superficial outcomes to all of us, but if they resonate only with our egos - not our souls - it’s really hard to commit to it 100%. And when there’s no commitment, progress is on a thin ice and results many times will be poor.
That said, ask yourself this: “What do I actually want out of my body, mind and life” and let’s build a sustainable game-plan according to those outcomes - not what some internet-influencers try to sell to you.
LIFE //
// COULD - SHOULD - WOULD //
How would build you life if you just had a chance to start from scratch again without ANY external influence from anyone- but with decades of life experiences you have gathered so far?
who would you spend you life with?
where would you live?
in what kind of a habitation would you live in?
what would you do for a living?
what would you do on your free time?
with who you would hang out on your free time?
If you would choose the same people and other “stuff” that you currently have, and you are honestly happy and excited of life..
Bro, you have already won in life, that’s awesome!
But many of us would make smaller or bigger tweaks though if we just could start all over again but..
Could you just start all over again?
Should you just start all over again?
Would you just start all over again?
We chose the last option about 4 years ago when we decided to sell our city home and most of our stuff, buy a trailer and move to our property in the woods.
Did we have it all figured out, hell no - not even close, but we had a strong calling to make this move and just figure it out piece by piece, and looong colourful story short - that was the best decision we had made together.
Has everything folded out perfectly - nope..
Has everything gone smoothly and as we hoped - definitely not..
Was the decision easy and are we happier than ever - YES!
That said, if we could do it - so can you and if you need help, just reach out, that’s why we do what we do here.
// BIT BETTER EVERY DAY //
No unsustainable fast fixes - just continuous Body // Mind // Life -progress in a big picture.
Yes, also bumps in the road, plateaus and set backs - they are a natural part of the process just as wins and achievements are.
We don’t believe in end goals - that makes people complaisant. You know, setting a too low standard goals, achieving them and thinking they are “there” now and they can now just sit back and chill.
No, don’t buy into this bs. When you take your foot off the gas for too long you start to slow down and eventually regress. Bc..
“If we don’t get better - we get worse.”
David Goggins said this in his audiobook “Can’t hurt me” and it just hit me - hard.
But don’t get me wrong, everyone should have something to strive towards but we call them just targets, checkpoints and milestones - not end goals.
That said, our “end goal” here in From Average to Warrior is continuous PROGRESS - whether it’s slower or faster. No set metrics, body fat % or lifts - just progress.
