Recent Push & Core #1 training session reminded me once again of the hidden benefits of training outdoors.
First weather was pretty ok, +1 Celsius, half cloudy, quite windy though, but a pretty decent weather for yet another outdoor training session.
In the middle of the session, weather changed quite rapidly, wind picked up and it started to hail.
Old me would’ve just called it a day, but nowadays I don’t even notice if it rains or shines or whatever basically. Instead I can stay 100% focused on what I’m doing regardless of the weather.
And that’s what “ROUGH” stands for in ATW’s core values.
“Rough” means becoming more resilient to the external elements.
It’s being able to stay locked in the mission at hand whether it is completing a training session or navigating through the parking lot when it’s pouring rain. Whether or not people around you are panicking bc of getting their shoes wet, you have your loves ones to take care of and get them safely to your car. And the same goes for training:
If someone believes you can’t train in a hail storm, it perhaps means they couldn’t but certainly not that YOU couldn’t.
There’s a difference.
The calmer you are able to stay in challenging situations..
the more aware you can be of your surroundings (ATW | Active Awareness)
the better decisions you make and
the better you can protect the ones who mean the world to you.
So that’s why I recommend you train outdoors all year around - in every condition.
And yea, not to forget fresh air, just being in the nature, no roof or walls around you. If you haven’t tried it yet, have your next workout session outdoors no matter the weather. Embrace ROUGH //
